The Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GCIC) held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 31st October, at the GIDC conference room, Frequente Industrial Park.

Mr. Abraham Lester Andall, the returning President, spoke on the successes of the Chamber, despite the challenges faced due to the relocation of the Secretariat for almost two years (2) as a result of renovations to its offices. He highlighted some of the areas of success for the Chamber - increase in membership, the Bus Shelter programme, increased advocacy and the Chamber’s improved financial position.

He noted that the Chamber participated in numerous consultations on behalf of its members.

As part of the ongoing service of the Chamber, Mr. Andall stated that greater advocacy will be placed on the Small and Medium Enterprise(SME) Sector, and on widening the Chamber’s network. He informed the audience, that the Chamber is doing a “reality check,” and has started a programme that will ensure its continued relevance. This he stated includes “face to face” visits to CEOs. He further informed, that both he and the Executive Director have already started visiting members to gain further insights that would not otherwise be obtained, and that they will continue these visits to a cross section of businesses representing traditional, SME, and the micro sectors.

The Guest speaker for the AGM, Sir Lawrence Joseph spoke on the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).
